Holiday Celebration at Hummingbird Nest Ranch

On Saturday, December 19th, we were invited to celebrate the Holidays at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Simi Valley.

The event started with some wine tasting from Kieu Hoang Winery and appetizers from Lee’s Sandwiches and Smokin’ Steve’s Pit BBQ Catering. The guests were then invited to proceed to Grand Prix to witness a processional of 100 couples who will be getting married at the Hummingbird Estate, a marching band, four horses, horse carriage and 6 helicopters.

After the procession, guests proceeded to The Barn where the dinner and live entertainment were taking place.

The dinner featured 20 main courses starting with beef and chicken kabobs from Masrour Catering followed by sushi, Kobe beef and Santa Barbara Prawn from Q Sushi. We also tasted amazing fried crawfish, crawfish etouffee, gumbo and crawfish Egg Rolls from World Famous Noel Abbeville Farm. After all this, we got lamb chops, Okinawa Purple Sweet Potato and Heirloom Carrots from Command Performance Catering. The evening ended with a fashion show, cake cutting as well as live band performances.

We certainly had a great time and we thank the owner Kieu Hoang for the generous invitation to celebrate at the beautiful Hummingbird Nest Ranch.

Bat Mitzvah at Casa Del Mar

We had the privilege of coordinating a NYC themed Bat Mitzvah for Lindsey at Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica. We were lucky to work closely with Lindsey’s mom who was extremely creative and organized which made our job really easy. The big day started at the Wilshire Blvd. temple and all the guests were greeted by Lindsey’s New York Bagel Bar after the service ended.

Michele wanted to transform the Casa Del Mar ballroom into a big NYC themed party. As guests entered the ballroom, they were greeted by a large I LOVE NY floral arrangement with escort cards on yellow taxi cabs.

Each table was decorated with a specific theme related to New York such as Broadway, Times Square, Statue of Liberty, TV show ‘Friends’, Little Italy and Chinatown. The backdrop was an image of the New York City skyline.

Another main theme was Lindsey’s Candy Bar. The Cocktail Reception area was decorated with candy everywhere and the kids’ area was transformed to a candy paradise with lollipops hanging from the ceiling and all sorts of candy scattered on the tables. Drinks from the bar were also decorated with candy.

A party is not a party without some party favors. Guests departed with a box of Krispy Kreme donuts.

Wish Upon a Wedding Blissful Wishes Ball

Wish Upon a Wedding is a nonprofit organization granting wedding and vow renewals for couples facing serious illness or a life-altering circumstance. We are strong supporters of what the organization is trying to accomplish. We attended the Blissful Wishes Ball that took place at the Intercontinental Hotel Century City. The ballroom was decorated with a modern love theme.

The highlight of the evening was when some of the wish recipients took the stage and and shared their experiences with Wish Upon a Wedding and their journey. We hope to continue to support Wish Upon a Wedding in any way that we can by either volunteering or donating part of our proceeds to help out those in need.

The Big Fake Wedding Los Angeles

The Big Fake Wedding Los Angeles took place on Thursday, March 19th at 440 Seaton in downtown Los Angeles. For those who are not familiar, The Big Fake Wedding is a bridal show alternative where the guests go to experience the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception as if they were attending a real wedding. We had the privilege of taking on the Day of Coordinator role for this event and it was definitely an one of a kind experience. We got to work with and get to know the lovely couple who renewed their vows during the ceremony. Wedding Co. Market 2015

We attended the Wedding Co. Market 2015 on Sunday at the Artscape Wychwood Barns. This venue is gorgeous in the summer time and it is still equally beautiful in the winter covered in snow. The Wedding Co. Market took place inside the Covered Street Barn which contains full length skylight and glass garage style doors on each side of the room. This is such a unique space and I fall in love with it every time I walk in.

We met a lot of amazing vendors who showcased their business at the show. Below you will some of our favourites. The Wedding Co. Market takes place annually and it’s a great way for brides and grooms to get to know some local vendors and to get some inspiration for wedding planning.

Joining of two cultures in Marriage

Hazel and Evan lived in Vancouver and chose Palm Desert, California as their destination wedding location. Most of the planning was done virtually due to the distance. We were excited to hear about the plans for Hazel and Evan’s wedding day. The bride, Hazel was from China and we were happy to help her plan this joining of two cultures in marriage. The big day included a traditional Chinese ceremony in the morning, a brunch buffet, a Western ceremony in the afternoon and a dinner reception. All the wedding events took place at Palm Valley Country Club where Hazel and Evan owned vacation homes.

After months of planning, the big has arrived. The day began with a 10:00am traditional Chinese ceremony. The first part of the ceremony was for the groom to pick up the bride and bring her back to his home. In order to do this, he must pass a few obstacles as set out by Hazel’s family. Evan passed the tests successfully which was then followed by a tea ceremony with Hazel’s mom and brother. The ceremony was filled with emotions and lots of happy tears.

After the ceremony, Evan placed a red cloth to cover Hazel’s face and led her by her hand back to his house.

After Hazel and Evan arrived back at Evan’s house, a tea ceremony was also performed with Evan’s parents. It is after all these traditions that Hazel becomes officially part of Evan’s family.

After the Chinese ceremony, guests were invited to the Valley Room at Palm Valley Country Club for the brunch buffet. We decorated the room with gold and red elements to match the Chinese theme. All the rental pieces and flowers were prepared by My Little Flower Shop.

At 3:00pm, Hazel and Evan had their Western Ceremony. The ceremony site was decorated with purple and pink flowers and set in front of the natural backdrop from the Palm Trees on the golf course.

Guests returned at 6:00pm for the evening reception. We loved this gorgeous cake prepared by Frost it Cupcakery.

One of our favorite moments that evening was the first dance by Evan and Hazel as all eyes were on them to witness this sweet moment.

MPISCC Annual Fundraiser at Dodgers Stadium #knockitoutofthepark

On November 12th, we attended the Annual Fundraiser for MPISCC at the Stadium Club inside Dodgers Stadium.

We are big baseball fans so seeing the stadium after dark was certainly an one of a kind experience.

The evening also featured a special behind the scenes tour of the Dodgers Stadium, silent auction, food and drinks.

Of course, what’s an event at Dodgers Stadium without Dodger Dogs!

We had a great time at the MPISCC Annual Fundraiser thanks to MPISCC! For those who are not familiar with the organization, MPISCC is a member based organization focused on the professional development for the meetings and events industries.

NAAAP Convention 2014 City Experience

We recently planned the offsite event for the Annual NAAAP Convention. The event took place on the Friday night of the Convention at the House of Blues in Anaheim. It was an evening with interactive food stations, drinks and live music.

We invited four local SoCal bands to perform and enjoy the evening with the attendees. The bands included: The Filharmonic, an a capella group that was featured on “The Sing-Off” and the movie Pitch Perfect 2, Calvin Chu and his band, a SoCal Youtuber who writes and performs songs about his beliefs, Jason Diego, an alternative and rock performer, and DanakaDan, an alternative hip hop artist based in LA.

Wedding at the historical Lindley-Scott House

Last weekend, we coordinated Shanna and Leo’s wedding at the Lindley-Scott House in Azusa, California. My first impression of Shanna was that she was a very organized bride. At our first meeting, she came to the meeting with all the vendor information that she had kept neatly organized. As I got to know Shanna, I also discovered that she was a kind and caring mother of 3 beautiful children.

Lindley-Scott House was a beautiful historical house with a lot of character. It is comprised of two buildings; The Lindley-Scott House and the Carriage House. The Lindley-Scott House contains a Victorian style dressing room and a grand staircase where the bride and bridesmaids can take pictures.

The Carriage House is used for receptions and can accommodate 200 guests.

Shanna and Leo’s main wedding colors were gold and red. The ceremony area was lined with black magic red rose petals. The ceremony chairs had cute mason jars filled with roses. All the flowers were provided by Creative Floral Designs.

We also LOVED Shanna and Leo’s wedding cake knife and server.

We worked along side of Let’s Make a Memory who provided the photography, videography, DJ/MC and lighting services. All the linens and decor pieces were provided by Glow Concepts. We just want to wish Shanna and Leo all the best as they embark on this new journey together.
